The Stone Harbor Recreation Department develops and oversees a variety of organized recreational programs for the community, including those for Stone Harbor Elementary School children outside of school hours. The Department strives to meet the recreational needs of the year-round and seasonal residents of Stone Harbor.

Summer programs for children include:

  • Tee Ball, Co-ed - Basketball for Girls
  • Baseball, Co-ed - Basketball for Boys
  • Soccer, Co-ed - Pee Wee Basketball
  • Lacrosse
  • Tennis Instructions/Fishing Clinics
  • Arts & Crafts Program

Summer programs for Adults include:

  • Tennis, Seasonal and Monthly Memberships
  • Tennis Instruction

The Summer Awards Picnic will be held this year in August at the 82nd Street Recreation Field. Awards will be given out and refreshments will be served. Stone Harbor Tennis 2010:

Stone Harbor operates 16 all-weather tennis courts: 11 at the 82nd Street Recreation Center and 5 at 96th Street soft courts. These Courts are operated on a membership basis.  Non-members can play when courts are available.  Members play for free but must pay for all non-members playing with them.

Reservations Policy:

Only members can make reservations in advance for play.  Non-member play is set up on a first come, first serve basis.  Non-members can rent court time when it is available only one hour before change-over times.  Any reservation will only be held for ten minutes past the reserved time.

Rules and Codes:

Stone Harbor tennis courts follow the rules, regulations and the code established by the United States Tennis Association.  All rules and codes will be enforced.

2010 Tennis Fees:

Seasonal Adult Membership, May - Sept. $110.00
Seasonal Junior Membership - May - Sept. $65.00
One (1) free guest pass (1 time use only) on any Seasonal membership purchased.

Monthly Adult Membership - $60.00
Monthly Junior Membership - $40.00

83rd Street Court Rental, per person, per hour - $7.00
96th Street Court Rental-per person, per hour - $7.00

Changeover Times:

Tennis Courts open at 8:00 a.m.
and close at 8:00 p.m.

Morning – 8:00, 9:30, 11:00
Afternoon – 12:30, 2:00, 3:00, 4:00
Evening – 5:00, 6:00, 7:00


Tennis Lessons & Clinics:

All lessons and clinics will be set up by the head pro.  All lessons and clinics are taught by USTA and US Pro Tennis Associations formats.

      fast pace drills, and conditioning.

Recreation & Sports Programs 2010 Registration:

Registration for all programs will be held at the 82nd Street Recreation office beginning June 14th.  Registration times are from 9:00 a.m. - 12 noon Monday through Friday.  Registrations may close early for programs that are filled.  All participants will require a waiver form to be completed and signed by a parent.  A $30.00 registration fee will be charged for each program and is payable upon registration.  Registrations are only official when the waiver has been signed and the fee has been paid.  Clinics are free (excluding tennis).  There will be a $5.00 weekly fee for some programs.  Programs run from June thru August. Call the Recreation office at 368-1210 (summer) and 368-5102 (winter) for details.

Arts & Crafts Program:

Classes begin in June and run through August. Class size is limited and advanced registration is suggested beginning Memorial Day weekend at the 82nd Street location. No registrations will be accepted before this time (including winter registrations). The parent must complete a registration form and waiver and a $9.00 fee will be charged per session.
