About Us, About Them...

The Borough of Stone Harbor, with a grant from the National Fish & Wildlife Foundation, expertise from Terwilliger Consultants, Inc. and assistance from the Point Partners developed a Comprehensive Management Plan for the Point. We can’t thank the National Fish & Wildlife Service, NJDEP Division of Fish & Wildlife, NJ Conserve Wildlife and the NJ Audubon Society for their time, caring and expertise in developing this plan.
The CMP is a blueprint for the future of the point, a way for man and nature to coexist there. A plan for the future success of beach nesting birds.
NJDEP has been “marking off” the nesting areas for the most threatened species for the last few years. There have been some successes! We hope for more each year.
The CMP is a renewed commitment to some of nature’s smallest, most interesting birds, insuring their success at the Point. On a warm summers day watch them play at the oceans edge, then take off as a flock, seemingly changing colors in the sunlight. It is a sight that one never tires of!
As part of the grant from NFWF, two bird observation decks are being constructed, along with interpretive  signage. With the design assistance of the borough’s consultants Duffield Associates, these two innovative observation areas are going to enable novice or experienced bird watcher to enjoy all the point has to offer.
Come join with us in discovering these tiny creatures. Just please be careful, not to close, they are so tiny, we frighten them!
